The Prince of New York, Ali Vegas…man anybody who knows me knows that Ali Vegas is one of my favorite emcees. Some may recognize the name from his connection to his “cousin” Lamar Odom (Odom & Vegas are best friends, instead of actual blood cousins), some may know him from beefing with Fabolous & DJ Clue? and some may recognize his face from the 3LW video, No More (LOL). Outside of the fact we’re from the same borough, I always tend to listen to rappers from Queens because of their lyrical ability. I think Veg’s gift and curse was the fact he was from Queens and spit with poet-type sound, he always got that label of being a baby Nas.
Veg unfortunately never really got the opportunity to broadcast his talents to the world outside of mixtapes, album features and soundtrack appearances. There’s so much timeless work in his catalog that it was downright confusing as to why he never got the push. I advise those who are new to him, to google or youtube his work whether its the AV Theme (Prod. By Kanye West), Everyday Is War (Prod. By DJ Premier), Sunset, It’s So Hard (Feat. AZ & Styles P) and the In Too Deep Soundtrack standout record, The Specialist.
Here’s a new record from Veg alongside Willie The Kid, known for his affiliation to DJ Drama.
